<title>GovHub is looking for a Lead UI Designer (berkeley)GovHub is looking for a Lead UI Designer (berkeley)</title>
<description>GovHub is a UC Berkeley student-founded startup poised to enter an un-impacted market (politics on the web). We're extremely well connected with VCs/Angels and prominent political and media figures, and we've just launched our private beta, with plans for a public launch at the end of February.
We're looking for someone to come on board full-time to lead the design and (possibly) development of our user interface. The ideal candidate would be able to implement their design in standards-compliant HTML/CSS; however, we're pretty negotiable if frontend development isn't your strongest suit. You definitely get super bonus points if you have experience with Javascript, SASS, or designing for iOS/Android.
We're well-funded and backed by prominent figures in the political world, and can offer a competitive salary &amp; equity. We'll have lots of ongoing work, so we'd prefer to bring someone on as a full time employee. If you're the right person and you want to work on a contract basis instead, we can work with that too.
If this sounds interesting to you, send us an email at contact (at) mygovhub (dot) org with links to your portfolio/resume and a few sentences introducing yourself and why you're interested in this project.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

 Compensation: Competitive + Equity

You'll be just our third technical hire, and will have tons of say in where we take our product. If you're as comfortable and confident making the big decisions about software architecture as you are placing parentheses in code... If you know and love all of Django's shortcuts but also know when to take the long way around... If you have the experience to build software that will last and can grow with us. . . If you can strike that balance between Getting It Just Right and Getting It Done... we want you on our team!
RESPONSIBILITIES
You'll maintain and develop new features for our gameplay engine, e-commerce website, and content-management system -- we have a starting point, but you'll be taking it new places and building new things every week. Most work will involve development in Python using Django.

- SQL (esp. w/ MySQL)
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-5 years professional web development experience
- BS or MS in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
